A small business plastics manufacturing company in Fremont, Ohio hired us in late December 2017 to research their State of Ohio issues in dealing with unemployment taxes via the Department of Job & Family Services and the withholding taxes via the Attorney General’s office. Our office worked diligently to assure they were protected from any enforced collection by the state and both of the accounts were resolved via Offers in Compromise. On February 6, 2018 the unemployment account was settled for a total of $58,000, rather than the original $66,684.71, for a total savings of $8,684.71. The withholding settlement was formally proposed in January of 2018 as well but was not determined until June 12, 2018. This was settled for a total of $66,375.71, rather than the original $76,012.21. The total savings negotiated on behalf of the client was $18,321.21!
